Packmann Sponsors Annual Subscription of Schwetzinger Zeitung for Friedrich School

Plankstadt/Eppelheim. Packmann, based in Eppelheim, has eagerly embraced the opportunity to support local education by becoming a reading mentor for a school. The decision to sponsor a subscription to the Schwetzinger Zeitung for Plankstadt’s Friedrich School was made swiftly.

„We are pleased to contribute to the community and support such meaningful projects. Especially during these challenging COVID times, facilitating access to reading materials is a valuable initiative,“ says Frank Westermann, Managing Director of Packmann. Westermann, who enjoys reading the newspaper with his morning coffee, views this sponsorship as a way to give back. Packmann’s support will provide Friedrich School students with a free annual subscription to the Schwetzinger Zeitung, granting them full access to all articles for an entire year.

Starting this week, the printed edition will be available to students, just in time for the school year. This early exposure to newspapers is intended to boost general knowledge, critical thinking, and media literacy, keeping students informed about important global and local events.

„Introducing children to the newspaper medium is crucial,“ Frank Westermann explains. „It may sound simple, but holding real paper in their hands, especially as digital media become more dominant, is valuable. It allows children to engage with headlines and articles at their own pace and helps them appreciate the process of staying informed.“

Commitment to Sustainability

Packmann covers all aspects of the packaging industry: materials, packaging services, and logistics. This comprehensive approach provides customers with a single point of contact for all their packaging needs, allowing them to concentrate on their products while Packmann manages the packaging details. Sustainability is at the heart of Packmann’s operations: „We aim not only for climate-neutral packaging but also for climate-positive solutions,“ Westermann states. „Our goal is to make a proactive contribution to climate improvement.“ To this end, Packmann has introduced „linio verda,“ its climate-positive brand offering eco-friendly packaging made partly from locally grown grass. Furthermore, Packmann offsets its CO₂ emissions by double the amount, investing in certified projects like forest reforestation and well construction in Togo.

Maintaining strong connections with both customers and the community is essential for Packmann. The Friedrich School in Plankstadt was chosen deliberately due to its personal significance for Westermann, whose son attends the school. The managing director is confident that the support is impactful and appreciated. The school shares this sentiment: Deputy Head Tina Bräuninger has expressed heartfelt thanks for the sponsorship.
